Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant has begun construction of the fifth crab-live carrier for the Russian Crab Group

On October 29, the keel of the fifth crab-catcher of the 5712LS design series, which the plant is building by order of the largest Far Eastern crab-fishing company "Russian Crab", was laid at the Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant. There are seven vessels in the series for the extraction and transportation of live crab. The construction is carried out within the framework of the investment quota program.

The lead vessel of the series was laid down in June 2020, the next three — with an interval of several months. To date, the work on detailing the main technical solutions of the new storage system, the crab loading and unloading system has been completed at the head crab.

By the end of the year, it is planned to install a propulsive complex, a steering wheel and steering device, and RSW system refrigerating units. Hull works are carried out on serial vessels. In accordance with the requirements for the localization of marine equipment, power supply systems, fuel systems, fire extinguishing systems, alarm systems, drinking water, as well as hull materials, cable products, paint and varnish materials and hull saturation products of Russian production were selected for the new crabbers.

The main technical characteristics of the project 5712 LS crab catcher: length - 57.70 m, width - 12.60 m, autonomy - 40 days, full speed - 12.6 knots, capacity for live crab - 110-120 tons.
